College Board Honors Nine More Kingswood Oxford Seniors

Nine more seniors from Kingswood Oxford School have been recognized by the College Board for outstanding performances on the PSATs they took when they were juniors. These are in addition to Alexandra Stanton ’14, who was named a National Merit Semifinalist earlier this fall.

This means that nearly 11% of KO’s Class of ’14 has been honored by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation for extraordinary achievement on this standardized exam.

Mary Lessard, daughter of Brian and Margarita Lessard of Hebron, received Honorable Mention in the National Hispanic Recognition Program. Taryn Braz, daughter of Tony and Tamara Braz of Simsbury, was named an Outstanding Participant in the National Achievement Scholarship Program.

And seven students were named National Merit Commended students, which means they scored among the top 5% of the 1.5 million students who took the PSAT/NMSQT exam in October 2012. These students are:

  • Michael Barry, son of David and Anne Barry of West Hartford
  • Warren Hadley Jr., son of Warren and Gail Hadley of Durham
  • Sophia Kruger, daughter of Dr. David Kruger and Dr. Riva Lewinter of West Hartford
  • Jake Leshem, son of Jerry and Elaine Leshem of West Hartford
  • Keenan Line, daughter of John and Cathleen Line of Glastonbury
  • Samantha Pinkes, daughter of Andrew and Suzanne Pinkes of West Hartford
  • Thomas Wilson, son of Dr. Richard Wilson and Ms. Helene Kvale of West Hartford

“We are so proud of these outstanding students, not only for their exceptional performance on standardized tests, but also for all the other ways in which they enrich the KO community,” said Natalie Demers, KO’s Assistant Head of School for Academic Life.
