KO Beats Hopkins, 56-0, in Homecoming Football Game

On a picture-perfect homecoming day teeming with fans clad in red and black, Kingswood Oxford won its third football game in a row, shutting out archrival Hopkins School, 56-0, on Oct. 19.

It was the first time KO beat Hopkins in football since 1997.

Quarterback Dante Cioffi ’14 led the offense, throwing four touchdowns for 262 yards – three of which were caught by Isaiah Wright ’16, who had a total of five catches for 136 yards. Wright also had two interceptions for 100 yards, including one touchdown. And, he returned a punt 90 yards for another TD.

Elijah Langston ’14 caught a spectacular pass by Cioffi for a touchdown – one of four catches he had for the day, totaling 107 yards. Running back Sharrieff Grice ’15 carried the ball 16 times for 148 yards and two touchdowns.

Defensively, the Wyverns were led by middle linebacker Koby Quansah ’16, who had a team-high 10 tackles. Collin Brantner ’14 had six tackles, and Wright had four, rounding out his remarkable performance on both sides of the ball.

KO’s record is now 4-2. The team has a bye week before meeting Woodstock at home on Nov. 2.
