KO Coach Durelle Brown ’97 Inducted into Manhattan College Athletic Hall of Fame
Durelle Brown ’97, the head boys’ basketball coach at Kingswood Oxford School, was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame at Manhattan College on Nov. 2, 2013.
After an outstanding basketball career at KO, for which he was inducted into the New England Basketball Hall of Fame in 2009, Brown went on to star for the Jaspers of Manhattan, a Division 1 school in Bronx, NY.
A 6-foot-7-inch forward, Brown is fourth on Manhattan’s all-time points list, with 1,634. As a junior, he scored 21.3 points per game, and after he moved to center as a senior, he still scored 17.8 points per game. He was also dominant on the boards, pulling down 6.1 points per game as a junior and senior.

Brown played in every game during his college career. He was named First Team All-MAAC during his junior and senior years and All-Metropolitan Second Team in 2000-2001.
After earning his Communications degree from Manhattan in 2001, he played professionally in Spain, Holland, Argentina, Brazil and Venezuela, retiring in 2011 and returning to his alma mater. In addition to coaching the KO boys’ varsity team, Brown runs the Big Fundies’ Basketball Training business, through which he offers one-on-one coaching as well as training clinics.
