KO Soccer Star Reid Collins ’14 Named All-State; Coach Is Also Honored

For the second year in a row, W. Reid Collins ’14, co-captain and goalie on Kingswood Oxford’s Boys’ Soccer team, has been named to the All-State team for large and medium-size prep schools by the Connecticut Soccer Coaches Association.

In addition, Assistant Boys’ Soccer Coach Travis Rains, chair of KO’s Classics Department, was named the CT Prep School Assistant Coach of the Year. The awards were presented at the CSCA All-State banquet at the Aqua Turf on Jan. 27, 2014.

The son of Beth Ann and Watson Collins of West Hartford, Collins became a goalkeeper relatively late in his soccer career, encouraged by his Middle School and JV coaches Andy Krugman ’86 and David Baker ’04, according to Head Coach Peter Jones.

Collins is also a member of the varsity basketball and baseball teams, the latter of which he also serves as captain. He plans to play baseball at Dickinson College next year.

In addition, Collins is an accomplished artist – he won a Silver Key in the 2013 Scholastic Arts Awards competition -- and a campus leader: He is a member of the executive committee of Shield & Dragon, KO’s select campus tour guide group.
