Celebrate Mardi Gras Right Here in Connecticut

How can you beat the winter blues? La Petite France believes color, food and music will lift your spirits and has organized the first West Hartford Downtown Mardi Gras Celebration on March 8th from 11 am – 3 pm.

Mardi Gras is an important celebration in France and people show their spirit by wearing costumes and parading in the street.  To highlight the French culture here in Connecticut, La Petite France celebrates Mardi Gras with costumes and specials at the café. This year owner Alexandra Litor decided to have a much bigger celebration and include more people in the fun.

To celebrate the day there will be a mask contest, face painting at Toy Chest, a drum circle at Ten Thousand Villages, and a photo booth at Iris Photography. La Petite France will have King’s Cake samples where whoever finds the charm in one of the samples will become king or queen for the day and receive a crown and special treats.  Beads and candy will be given out at participating merchants for kids and adults wearing costumes or masks. Participating merchants will offer specials on that day and La Petite France will introduce our classic French beignets.
