Saturday, October 6, 2012, was the Breast Cancer Awareness football game for the Northwest Catholic Indians.
The players all wore pink laces and many wore pink socks, gloves, wristbands, and sleeves. Many of the fans also wore pink in support.
The first quarter started out well for the Northwest Catholic Indians. Aidan McDonnell scored at the 7:15 mark. Devin Stewart had a interception which led to Will Carew scoring the second touch down in the quarter. The two point conversion was good, with 4:50 left in the quarter the Indians were ahead 14 -0.
Northwest defense worked hard to defeat Tolland Eagles. They forced turnovers and made two amazing stops on the goal line. Both teams battled through the 2nd and 3rd quarters. Neither team was able to get on the board.
In the final quarter Nick Gaynor scored. The extra point kick by Will Carew was successful.
The game ended with the Northwest Indians on top. The final score was 21-0 and the Indian's record improves to 3-1.
Next Saturday, October 13, the Indians will host Berlin under the lights at Brewer field at 7 p.m.
