Fenn-Woode Development Awarded Best Green Community by The Ct. Apartment Assoc.

Receiving the award left to right: Brian Liistro, Owner Manager, Mary Jean Jones, Leasing manager and Sam Parkinson, Property Manager

The award was presented to Fenn-Woode Development because of Fenn-Woode's recycling process, saline - chlorinated pool, lights on sensors and an energy audit.  The energy audit was performed by Competitive Resources.  They sampled 10% of the apartments for energy loss.  These test results showed where heat loss was prevalent.  With the permission of each resident, Competitive Resources, accompanied by a member of the Fenn-Woode staff, installed energy saving light bulbs, installed weather stripping, added foam insulation to any penetrations, added a door sweep, caulked around windows and doors, placed foam insulation on the hot water heater piping, added a spray head faucet that saves on water usage which reduced the energy costs.  It was determined that each resident should average a savings of $84.00 per year on their energy bill.  Throughout the year there are Tradeshows held by the National Apartment Association and the Connecticut Apartment Association.  The Fenn-Woode staff attend the tradeshows and training classes provided.  The tradeshows allow us to learn about new products and ideas to improve upon life at Fenn-Woode Development.
