Calling all Spider-Man fans! The New Children’s Museum presents The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Day on Sunday April 27, 2014, to celebrate the May 2 release of the spidey-tastik movie The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Enter special raffles from noon - 3 p.m. to win Spider-Man T-shirts, posters, masks, coloring pages, and passes to an advance screening of the The Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie.

Explore the Museum in a scavenger hunt to find special spider-related and electricity places. Watch the movie trailer for Spider-Man 2 on the planetarium dome before each planetarium show. Meet very hairy tarantula spiders up close with a Museum Educator at 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. in the Spineless Wonders Exhibit.

At 2 p.m., The New Children’s Museum's own Jonah “Mr. Science” Cohen will present “The Shocking Scientific Secrets of Electro!” – a spectacular demonstration based on the bad guy from The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Visitors will be true believers after seeing electricity in action, including the hair-raising effects of static, the power of four AA batteries, the explosive Tesla Coil engine, and the secret of why a car is a safe place during a lightning storm.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Day activities are included with general admission, free for members of The New Children’s Museum and half price for reciprocal Association of Children’s Museum Reciprocal Network (ACM) members.

Museum hours on Sunday April 27, 2014 are 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Admission to The Children’s Museum is $14.75 for adults, $13.75 for seniors (63+), $13.75 for children (2-12), and free for children under age 2.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2

We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important conflict has been within himself:  the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man.  But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that his greatest battle is about to begin.

It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield).  For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone).  But being Spider-Man comes at a price:  only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city.  With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he.  And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: Oscorp.
