West Hartford – Northwest Catholic senior Kelsey Baker of Simsbury has received an Honorable Mention in the Discover FAA High School Architectural Drawing Competition, run by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign’s College of Fine and Applied Arts. The contest attracted entries from 25 states and three countries.

"Kelsey is a very talented young artist who seamlessly merges art and mathematics, as is evident in her beautifully detailed architectural drawings,” said Elizabeth Lynch Oates ’94, Chair of the Fine and Performing Arts Department. “Kelsey seeks to challenge herself and I am so happy that her hard work and talent have been recognized through the prestigious competition!"

Kelsey, currently a student in Advanced Placement Studio Art, was also thrilled with the award, saying, “It was an extremely exciting and gratifying experience to have been recognized for my efforts in such an expansive competition.”
