Seven Northwest Catholic Students to Perform in CMEA Ensembles

West Hartford – Seven Northwest Catholic student-musicians will be performing as members of the Connecticut Music Educators Association’s Northern Region ensembles. Kyle Brooks ’15 of Avon (tenor saxophone), Ryan Del Monaco ’14 of Wethersfield (trombone), Justin Drisdelle ’15 of Rocky Hill (trumpet), Katharine Jessen ’17 of Winsted (clarinet), and Sarah Pranaitis ’14 of Windsor (flute) will all perform in the Band. Drisdelle will also perform in the Jazz Band, while Sarah Jessen ’17 of Winsted (trumpet) will perform in the Orchestra and Kevin Kearns ’16 of Simsbury (bass) will sing in the Choir.

Director of Instrumental Music Daniel Luddy ’03 is thrilled with the students’ achievements. “These musicians are all-conference,” he said. “Participating in regional ensembles allows them to sing or play in larger groups with other exceptional players. The conductors are typically high-profile, and the performance experience is invaluable.”

The CMEA Northern Region High School Festival will take place at New Britain High School on January 18, 2014 at 5pm.
