Risa Becker, who owned and operated Becker’s Diamond and Fine Jewelry with her husband Paul has passed away after a long battle with ovarian cancer, according to her obituary. The store has been a fixture in West Hartford center for 35 years.
Becker, 64, lived in West Hartford and is remembered as a philanthropist who supported a number of local programs and helped many people.
She also worked to raise awareness and funds for ovarian cancer, according to the Hartford Courant.

Her funeral will be at 9 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 13 at the Emanuel Synagogue, 160 Mohegan Drive, West Hartford.
