2013-2014 West Hartford High School Senior Scholarship

In support of business and the community, the West Hartford Chamber will recognize one outstanding high school senior each year with the West Hartford Chamber of Commerce Student Scholarship. The Scholarship is unique in that it is specifically for students who choose to attend a career or technical school, two-year college or other certification program leading to professional advancement. It is hoped that this award will help career-oriented students achieve their work goals and enrich the area workforce with their skills and talents.

Amount: $2,000 pending acceptance in chosen school or training program.

Eligibility:

For the academic year 2013-2014, students must be graduating seniors from either Hall or Conard High Schools in West Hartford, who choose to attend a career or technical school, two-year college or other certification program leading to professional advancement.

Application process:

Students are required to complete the Chamber Scholarship Application Form and submit:
a) A brief essay describing your career objective and your reasons for selecting this career; the people, courses or experiences helping you make that choice, and the reasons why this scholarship will be especially meaningful to you.
b) One letter of recommendation from a teacher.
c) One letter of recommendation from a school counselor.

Timeline:

Tuesday, April 29 at noon: Deadline for application packets (application form with letters and references) to be received at the Chamber office.

Tuesday, May 20: Chamber will inform West Hartford Public Schools of the scholarship winner.

Scholarship will be awarded in the WHPS spring awards ceremony.
