LEARN Announces Amy Parker as Associate Director of the Regional Multicultural Magnet School

August 21, 2013 (Old Lyme, CT) – LEARN announces Amy Parker named Associate Director of Regional Multicultural Magnet School (RMMS) effective July 24, 2013.

Amy Parker has been in the educational field for fifteen years and most recently has served as the Curriculum Specialist for the Smith STEM School in West Hartford, Connecticut. Amy earned her Master of Science from Central Connecticut State University majoring in Reading and Language Arts and received her 092 certification from Sacred Heart University located in Fairfield, Connecticut.  Her strong background in reading and curriculum along with her collaborative approach to building capacity within the adult learning community make her an excellent fit with the RMMS community.  As Associate Director, Parker’s responsibilities will include partnering with the RMMS director to continue building a strong teaching and learning focus aligned with the Common Core State Standards, while supporting the social, emotional and physical development of each child.  Mr. Carolan, the school director, recently commented that “In the short time Amy has been a part of our school community, she has made strong connections to many staff, students and parents.  Moreover, Amy brings a great wealth of understanding about helping each student learn and grow as a unique individual.  We look forward to all RMMS community members connecting with such a wonderful addition to our school.”

Amy explains that she was drawn to the richness of the culture at RMMS and appreciates the welcoming families, students and staff.  She is looking forward to Goal-Setting Day and the Back-to-School Fair scheduled for August 26 & 27.  LEARN is very pleased to welcome Amy Parker as the new Associate Director of the Regional Multicultural Magnet School.
