Noise Pollution

We recently moved to West Hartford and absolutely love it.  The one complaint I have is the lack of noise pollution enforcement.  There are federal standards around maximum decibels allowed for cars and motor cycles that manufacturers must abide to but after market retrofits flaunt these rules.

We live not far from Farmington Ave and the peace and tranquility of a night sitting on our porch is broken several times and hour as one of these retrofitted vehicles passes by.  The noise of some motor cycles can ear splitting if we happen to be walking the sidewalk as one goes by.

West Hartford has noise ordinances.  If the police where to sit on Farmington Ave any night of the week, they would be able to count dozens of violators in an hour.

It would be nice to add some teeth to our existing laws and it would not take long for those owners of illegally retrofitted cars and motor cycles to take notice.
