Rep. Brian Becker Promotes CT Electric Vehicles

State Representative Brian Becker (D-19th) attended the EVConnecticut Electric Vehicle Expo at Middlesex Community College in Middletown on Tuesday, July 9th.  At the Expo, Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Commissioner Daniel C. Esty announced a new program in which the state will partner with public and private organizations to build Class 2 charging stations across the state, contributing $2,000 of the estimated $4,000 to $6,000 cost of construction for each charging station. Class 2 stations supply 240 volts of power, which recharge electric vehicles in a shorter period of time than a standard house current. The goal by year-end is to make Connecticut "electric vehicle friendly" by having a charging station within a 10 or 15 minute drive from anywhere in the state.
