Communicating with Your Pet Sitter

From all of us here at West Hartford Pet Sitters, we hope you are enjoying the last weekend in February! Today we are going to talk about some tips for better communicating with your pet sitter.

It’s important to keep the lines of communication open to make sure they are meeting your requirements or in case of an emergency. We hire pet sitters to maintain a sense of balance for our pets; it’s imperative you have a good working relationship with the person whom you are hiring.

1. Contact Information

Make sure you have your pet sitter's cell phone number and at least one back-up contact number. Here at West Hartford Pet Sitters, every single client has our main company telephone number and an urgent line that is never turned off.

2. Use Email

For quick messages about small adjustments, reminders or updates send them an email! Every pet sitter should be using both their cell phone and email to be able to adjust to each of their client's preferred method of communication. Your pet sitter should respond to all of your emails, even just to confirm receipt and clients should make it a habit as well!

3. Notes

Your pet sitter should leave a note at each visit and it should reflect how the visit went, bathroom information and the pet's mood. Any larger issues should be communicated via telephone or email.

Again, always keep the lines of communication open and if you find an issue, no matter how minor, bring it up to your sitter immediately so that it may be remedied. A healthy pet sitter/client relationship will translate into happier pets!
