How to Prevent Paw and Nose Frostbite During Extreme Cold

With Winter Storm Pax upon us, it's important to know how to keep your dog safe during the extreme cold. Here are a few ways to protect your furry friend from frostbite:

- Rub Vaseline into each paw/pad before walking your dog.

- Keep the walks as short as possible.

- Upon bringing your dog back into the house, soak pads in pan of water.

- Remove any ice or snow that he/she may have picked up.

- Use a luke-warm wash cloth to work the snow out of their paws.

SIGNS OF FROSTBITE:

- Constant licking his or her paws/pads.
