Some vets recommend preventative tick medication and outdoor treatments if you live in a highly wooded area or other areas that are prone to high tick populations. If you don’t live in a high tick population area then just make sure you conduct a weekly full body tick check for your pet.

Heartworm

It is important to make sure your dogs and outdoor cats are protected against heartworm. Heartworm is a disease transmitted between animals through mosquitoes.
