BACK TO SCHOOL: UPDATING YOUR CHILD'S ROOM AT HOME

Back to School isn't just a time to think about filling your student’s backpack with supplies they need to do well in the class room. It's also the perfect time of year to update your child's room at home -- whether they are growing up and ready for a new décor or need help organizing all of their favorite things to help them do well in the year ahead.

Whether you're outfitting a new dorm room or looking to update your child's bedroom, here are three trends for the upcoming fall season.

Polka Dots and Preppy Patterns

Bold, bright patterns have been trending in home decor all year and perfect for any kids room. From animal prints to polka dots and preppy plaids, young, stylish options are available this fall in everything from bedding and window treatments to lamp shades and chairs. This season, we're also seeing small and eye popping patterns in darker hues, including browns, dark blues and greys.

Stylish, Stackable Organization

A great decorative solution for students to stay organized and keep clutter out of site are colorful boxes and bins. They add modern style to any room and stackable boxes are an ideal organization accessory for younger students, teens as well as those that are college bound and living in small dorm spaces. Mixing and matching geometric and floral patterns with solids create a functional storage system with added style. From Pottery Barn Teen to Target, home décor stores are filled with options in fun patterns and designs.

Decal Your Wall

Wall decals are one of our favorite trends to make a big impact and quickly transform a bedroom.  Available in different patterns and themes, decals are easy to put up (no hardware required!) and shouldn’t damage the wall when you remove them in future years. Create a design or mural with a small group of decals or make a bold statement with a graphic that fills an entire wall. Minimize graphic elements in the room and on opposite walls to make the decals pop.
