Armed Robber Accosts Woman in Whole Foods Parking Lot on Raymond Road

Police say woman ran into store; suspect fled on foot toward grocery store garage.

At approximately 8:30 a.m. Sunday morning, an unidentified woman was approached by a male in the parking lot of Whole Foods Market who "pulled a knife on her," according to West Hartford Police Lt. Jeremy Clark.

Clark said the woman screamed and ran into the grocery store on Raymond Road. The suspect — described as a black male with no facial hair, in his 40s and wearing a dark overcoat, according to police — then fled on foot, heading toward the lower level grocery store garage.

Lt. Clark said police and two canines are searching the area. An emergency message went out to residents within a one-mile radius of the grocery store advising them to stay indoors, but the message was rescinded around 9:45 a.m.
