Hasan, who was born in Pakistan, initially faced 18 charges. He also pleaded guilty to misdemeanor threatening, harassment and a second count of reckless endangerment and received 15 months suspended and three years of probation.

Two counts of acts of terrorism were among the felony charges that were dropped.

Attorney Gerald M. Klein of Hartford successfully argued July 25 for Hasan's release on reduced bail, house arrest and electronic monitoring.

Hasan, who has lived in Bristol about 12 years, was accused of emailing to UConn administrators. About 40 students and school personnel were affected when three buildings on Asylum Avenue and Lawlor Road were evacuated, police said.

No explosives were found after UConn and state police swept the campus. According to affidavits filed in court by UConn police, one email was specific.

“Cancel today’s exams or else I will blow up the school,” Hasan wrote. “This includes both Calc 1 and Calc 2.”

During a search of his car, police found toilet cleaning solution, aluminum foil and plastic bottles that were ingredients for crude, so-called “Works Bombs” capable of causing severe injuries, the prosecution said.

Yagaloff had said that Hasan, a sophomore in general studies, was involved in “a stupid prank.”

The incident involving Hasan was the fifth bomb threat at the Greater Hartford campus in the 2010-11 school year. Kendriana Manning was arrested in connection with two threats in October and her case was sealed by the court.

Judge Elpedio N. Vitale set several conditions for Hasan’s probation, including 20 hours of community service, mental health evaluation, random urine testing for illegal drugs and a $200 contribution to a criminal injury compensation fund.
