Conard Student Reports Being Stopped by Strangers and Offered Ride

Alleged incident occurred Wednesday morning.

A female student walking in the area of Hooker Drive on Wednesday morning was allegedly approached and offered a ride to school.

According to updated information received from Wednesday night, the female student walking to Conard was approached by a dark Honda Accord. Police say the girl reported that there were two Hispanic males in the front and a Hispanic woman in the back. The woman had a fluffy white dog with her. According to police, the occupants asked the girl multiple times if she needed a ride, but the girl refused.

Police are calling this a "suspicious incident."

A letter was sent home to parents of Conard High School and students on Wednesday afternoon, stating that the student reported being approached "by a small dark colored car containing two males and a female and offered a ride to school. The car pulled away when the student refused the ride."

According to the letter, the incident was immediately reported to the Conard administration as well as the West Hartford Police.

According to Officer Rob Riccobon of the West Hartford Police, "We don't feel that there is any immediate threat or criminal intent." Riccobon said that the West Hartford Police are looking for the vehicle.
