Developing: Man Accused of Assisting in Father's Death Apparently Dies in Ocean Accident

Patch is working to confirm the connection, but it appears a Somerville, MA man who fell into the ocean and died in Maine is the same man once accused of assisting in his father's death in West Hartford.

A 57-year-old Somerville, Mass. resident named Bruce Brodigan died Saturday after falling into the ocean in Ogunquit, Maine, according to the Boston Herald.

It appears it may have been the same man .

In April of 2011, a Somerville resident named Bruce Brodigan, 56 at the time, had most charges dropped against him in a case before Hartford Superior Court in Connecticut.

Bruce Brodigan had been accused of helping his father, , a retired West Hartford lawyer and a former interim Superior Court judge, kill himself with a cocktail of pills and alcohol.

At the time, charges were dropped against him on condition that he enter a rehabilitation program.

Later that year, in December, all charges were dropped against him, according to the Hartford Courant

According to the Boston Herald's report, Brodigan was walking along Marginal Way, an ocean-front pathway in Ogunquit, Maine, on Saturday morning when he "apparently lost his footing" and fell into the ocean. He was rescued by a boat and transported to York Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The cause of his death remains under investigation, the Herald reports.
