Firefighters Memorial Ceremony Scheduled for Sunday

Veterans Day ceremony has been held for the past 10 years.

On Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, the West Hartford Fire Department and Local 1241 will be holding their memorial ceremony to West Hartford’s fallen firefighters.

This has been done every year since Firefighter Patrick Brooks died in the line of duty in 2002.

The West Hartford Firefighters memorial is located in front of Station#2 on Brace Road.

The Service starts at 8:30 a.m., with the posting of colors by the West Hartford Fire Dept Honor Guard. Past President of Local 1241 Louis Glanz will speak, followed by Interim Chief Gary Allyn.

Wreaths will be laid at the monument by member(s) of the Brooks family, as well as members of the Spak family. Members of both families will speak.

Music will be provided by the Connecticut Firefighters Pipes and Drums.

The ceremony usually takes about 1 hour.
