Hedge Fund Plans, Boxes of Pot, Ticket Collecting

A man suspected of collecting cans and bottles door-to-door in West Hartford told homeowners that he was trying to get money to start a hedge fund, police said. Neighbors called police and Brent A. Goggins, 32, was charged with soliciting without a permit. Police said that a check on a man who was working with Goggins turned up an arrest warrant from Florida.  Charles A. Cravish, 28, of Stuart, FL, with a recent address in Hartford, is wanted in Martin County, FL, on charges of resisting arrest with violence, said West Hartford police, who also charged him with possession of drug paraphernalia and soliciting without a permit.

New Canaan police have ticketed a local driver five times on charges of passing a stopped school bus — all on the same road.  Kendall Schlim, 18, of New Canaan, was ticketed most recently on April 6, after a violation reported by a school bus driver on April 4, police said.

A Southington man suspected of collecting boxes of marijuana shipped to UPS stores in Milford and Stratford was arrested after a month-long investigation, Milford police said. The investigation involved the Milford Police Department Tactical Unit, the State Police Narcotics Task Force, the Stratford Police Department and the U.S Postal Inspection Service. After authorities discovered that a box containing five pounds of marijuana was delivered to the UPS Store in Milford they conducted surveillance at a UPS Store in Stratford where a similar package had been delivered. Sean Hutton, 29, of 200 East St., Southington, was seen picking up the package in Stratford, police said, and was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana with intent to sell.
