Lime Rock Park Invites Public and 'First Responders' to Picnic

The Northwest Corner racetrack will also make a special announcement about its opening season at Sunday's picnic on the grounds of West Hartford Town Hall.

Lime Rock Park, the renowned Northwest Corner racetrack, is honoring Connecticut's first reponsders this Sunday with a "Hummel Brothers Hot Dog Picnic" on the grounds of .

The picnic, which is open to the public, will be held on May 20, from noon to 3 p.m., and will offer "food, fun and race car drivers and cars from all the championships racing at Lime Rock over the Memorial Day weekend," according to a news release from Lime Rock.

According to the release, a representative from Lime Rock Park will be making a special announcement at 1 p.m. about the park's season-opening races. The “Lime Rock Season-Opener featuring Trans Am and Royals Garage Car Show,” a tradition since the 1970s, will take place over Memorial Day weekend.

Lime Rock Park has indicated that the announcement will impact the first responders, and has invited police, fire, and emergency services personnel from throughout Connecticut to attend the event.

Lime Rock Park, in Connecticut’s Northwest Corner, opened in April of 1957, and is celebrating the circuit's 55th birthday this year.
