Lux Bond & Green Robbery Suspect Extradited to Connecticut

Suspect brought back to West Hartford to face charges stemming from the June 2010 robbery of $580,000 of watches.

The suspect in a robbery of more than a half million dollars of watches from the LaSalle Road store in 2010 has been extradited from North Carolina back to Connecticut and arrested by West Hartford Police.

Shamell "Sha Sha" Rijfkogel, also known as Shamell Atkins, 24, of Brooklyn, NY, was returned to Connecticut Friday from the Rivers Correctional Institution in Winton, NC, to face charges that include two counts of first-degree robbery, first-degree larceny, and criminal conspiracy to commit robbery in the first degree.

The jewelry heist occurred shortly before noon on June 25, 2010, when two men allegedly used sledgehammers to smash display cases at the Lux Bond & Green store. West Hartford Police estimate the value of watches stolen to be $580,000.

and charged with charged with first degree robbery, conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery and first-degree larceny in conjunction with this case.

The arrest warrant for Rijfkogel was signed on August 29, 2011, police said. He is currently being held on $750,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Hartford Superior Court on Monday.
