Man Faces Public Indecency Charge in West Hartford

Police say the suspect is a Hartford resident.


West Hartford Police investigating a complaint that man exposed himself to a woman arrested the man on a public indecency charge.

According to a police report, officers were dispatched to the area of Farmington Avenue and Troutbrook Drive shortly after 7 p.m. June 17 to investigate a woman's complaint that a man exposed himself to her.

"The complainant reported that she observed a middle-aged white male with a thin build, walking east on Farmington Avenue. The complainant further stated that the male had exposed his genitalia and was holding it in his hand," according to the report.

When police found the man in front of 831 Farmington Ave., the suspect denied exposing himself but admitted that he might have been staring at women, according to the report.

Gregory Schumm, 61, of 81 Tremont St., Hartford, was arrested and charged with one count each of public indecency and breach of peace. He was held on a $5,000 surety bond.
