Man Pleads Guilty to Some Larceny Charges in West Hartford, Avon and Farmington Incidents

A man previously convicted for several burglaries in the state pleaded guilty last week to some burglary and larceny charges against him in West Hartford and the region.

David Kawiecki, 38, appeared in court last Wednesday, according to The Hartford Courant. Records on the state judicial website show that Kawiecki pleaded guilty to a second-degree larceny charge out of Avon. However, he pleaded not guilty to charges of third-degree burglary, conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary and first-degree larceny.

On May 24, 2011, served warrants to Kawiecki and Sebastian Kuziak, 29, in connection to a Nov. 27, 2009 incident. It's been almost three years since and took $33,116 in cash and belongings. Police said they stole at least 48 items including a car, jewelry, four laptops, a desktop computer, hardware tools, an external hard drive and $700 in foreign currency.

A Hartford Superior Court judge reduced Kuziak's charges to third-degree burglary and conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary, but increased his larceny charge to first-degree, according to the judicial website. He pleaded guilty to all three and was convicted in July 2011. Kuziak was committed to the Department of Corrections.

Kawiecki also pleaded guilty to larceny charges following one in West Hartford and four in Farmington in 2009 and 2010, as well one first-degree burglary charge from one of the Farmington cases. He has pleaded not guilty to all of his other charges in the pending Avon, Farmington and West Hartford cases.

This is not the first time Kawiecki was arrested in connection with burglaries in Avon.

In 2002, Kawiecki was found guilty of third-degree burglary in Avon and sentenced to two years in prison. In May of that year, he was also sentenced to a total of 10 years in prison following two cases of first-degree larceny and second-degree burglary charges in Southington. The three incidents occurred in 1999 and 2000, according to court records.

Kawiecki still faces several charges stemming from burglaries in Plainville, New Britain and Cromwell.

His next court date is Sept. 28 for the six incidents in Avon, Farmington and West Hartford. The court is awaiting the disposition for all of them.
