Motorcyclist Injured in Crash with Car on Route 4

Farmington police responded to the accident around 4 p.m.

A motorcyclist was seriously injured and taken to Hartford Hospital after a collision with a car near the Burlington town line on Route 4.

Farmington police and firefighters responded to the accident at 3:50 p.m. on Wednesday near the Routes 4 and 179 intersection. A regional accident reconstruction team was on scene still just after 5 p.m. to piece together how the accident occurred.

The motorcycle is not towed yet as the accident reconstruction team investigates. Shards from the motorcycle were scattered on the ground. 

The occupants of the tan four-door sedan were not taken to the hospital, but the front number of the car was torn off.

Route 4 will be closed at Route 179 an River Road for the next couple hours, police said.

Police are not releasing the name or town of the motorcycle driver at this time and have not yet notified relatives.

Route 4 is closed between River Road and Route 179 in Farmington as police and emergency officials respond to a crash.

The accident happened late afternoon and the road was still closed as of 4:11 p.m.
