New Britain woman taken to hospital; Florida woman arrested after leaving scene of accident, police say.
A New Britain woman was struck by a car at Westfarms mall and was taken to a hospital, and a Florida woman was arrested after driving away because of an apparent disagreement with the victim, said.
The victim, 29, complained of back and hip pain and was taken in an ambulance to UConn Medical Center in Farmington.
Melissa S. Adams, 26, of Cape Coral, Fla., was charged Wednesday with evading responsibility, failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk and interfering with an officer.

Adams allegedly hit the New Britain woman while leaving the mall at 1500 New Britain Ave. shortly before 4 p.m., police said. As Adams turned right in a 2005 Ford sedan, she knocked down the victim in the crosswalk, police said.
Police said Adams gave the victim a lift to her job at a nearby . Adams, who recently moved to the area, told police she never saw the victim walking and had apologized. She told police she left the restaurant fearing legal action after a conversation with the victim.

Adams was pulled over by an officer as she entered the I-84 eastbound on-ramp, police said.
Adams was scheduled to appear in Hartford Superior Court June 30.
