Police: Attempt to Address Romantic Relationship Leads to Multiple Charges for Two Women

Weapons and breach of peace are among the charges levied against two women who confronted a couple at a West Hartford home.

West Hartford police arrested two women last week on weapons and other charges that they say resulted from an attempt to resolve a romantic situation.

According to police, Kathy Morales, 29, of 28 Fairview St., West Hartford, and Ydahlie Pagan, 34, of 39 Wayland St., Hartford, arrived at 80 Cortland Circle in West Hartford to confront Morales' boyfriend and another woman. Police said that the boyfriend had gotten the other woman pregnant, and the two women were planning to "address the romantic relationship."

Morales arrived at the home driving a white Honda Accord, and Pagan was driving a red Nissan Maxima, police said. Morales confronted the man about cheating on her, police said.

Police said there was "lots of threatening and gun play," including talk of using firearms.

According to police, Morales threatened the victim and went to the trunk of the Maxima to retrieve a firearm, but police said that she did not display the gun. A stolen Smith & Wesson 9MM handgun, as well as two rifle magazines, a sandwich baggie containing five 9mm rounds, a ballistic helmet, and marijuana were recovered from the Maxima, police said.

Police said that both women attempted to leave the scene, and as she was departing, Morales backed into a parked car and unsuccessfully attempted to strike the victims with her vehicle.

Police arrived on the scene in time to prevent Morales and Pagan from leaving. Both women were arrested without incident, police said.

Morales and Pagan were both charged with second-degree breach of peace, risk of injury/impairing morals, theft of firearms, and weapons in motor vehicle. Morales was also charged with second-degree criminal mischief, evading responsibility, operation while under the influence, first-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree threatening, and unsafe backing. Pagan was also charged with illegal possession of marijuana.

Both were held on $250,000 surety bond.
