Police Seeking Witnesses in Car vs. Pedestrian Accident

Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed this incident near Conard on Monday morning.

are seeking the public's help in their investigation of a car vs. pedestrian accident which occurred on Berkshire Road near Monday morning.

Police are reporting that a 16-year-old Conard student was struck by a car while crossing the intersection on a skateboard. According to police, the operator of the car, Kristen Smith of West Hartford, drove the student to the UConn Health Center where he is being treated for minor injuries.

Smith was not injured according to police, who report that they were not called to the scene until the student had been taken to the hospital.

High school students are taking midterm exams this week, with the first exam of the day scheduled for 9:30 a.m.

The incident occured at approximately 9:15-9:20 a.m. Anyone who witnessed the accident is asked to please call Officer Manny Birritteri of the West Hartford Police traffic division at 860-523-2007.
