Police: South Glastonbury Man Assaults Officers During Struggle

West Hartford police say the man spit at and tried to bite the officers, none of whom were hurt.

A South Glastonbury man who was heavily intoxicated got into a brawl with West Hartford police officers who were trying to arrest him on Friday night, police said Monday.

Police said the man, 27-year-old Jonathan Brink of South Glastonbury, was reportedly pounding on a door in West Hartford and yelling that he wanted to have sex with the resident's wife. The resident then called police.

According to the police report, Brink was "found to be extremely irate and
violent towards arresting officers."

Lt. Jeffrey Rose of the said Brink was "obnoxious" and "pretty drunk" when officers approached him.

"Apparently, he was spitting on officers and trying to bite them, struggling with them," Rose said. The officers managed to subdue Brink without getting injured, Rose said.

Brink was held over the weekend on $150,000 bond and was due to appear in court in Hartford on Monday.

He was charged with second-degree breach of peace, disorderly conduct, four counts of assault on a police officer and four counts of interfering with a police officer.
