ORIGINAL STORY

A West Hartford school bus was heading north on Oakwood Avenue at about 8:14 a.m. Wednesday morning when a car traveling east on Park Road ran a red light and was hit by the school bus, West Hartford police said.

The side impact airbag on the car was deployed. There were no people in the car besides the driver.

Police said there were only one or two students on the bus. There was one injury and that person was taken to the hospital, but police would not immediately identify who was injured.

This was the second school bus accident this morning. There was a minor incident at the intersection of Fern Street and North Quaker Lane. The school bus was rear-ended but there were no injuries.
