Man Faces Multiple Charges After Going the Wrong Way on Avon Mountain
Avon, West Hartford police respond; drug, weapon, motor vehicles charges filed.
Jimmy Jusino, 32, 138 Babcock St., Hartford, was arrested on Wednesday on charges of carrying a dangerous weapon, having a weapon in a motor vehicle, possession of over 4 ounces of marijuana, operating a vehicle while under the influence, failure to drive in the proper lane and operating a motor vehicle without a license or insurance.
Avon Police and West Hartford police received several 911 calls reporting a vehicle going the wrong way on Avon Mountain, traveling westbound in the eastbound lane. The reports indicated that the suspect's vehicle struck a street sign and stuck in the median at the intersection of Avon Mountain Road and Parsons Way.
Officers said they found Jusino getting out of the vehicle and police said he apeared to be under the influence of alcohol and possibly drugs. Jusino did not have photo identification and officers said that he would not cooperate with him. Police said that he could not complete the field sobriety tests, so he was arrested at 4:33 p.m. When police searched his vehicle, they said they found 6.145 ounces of marijuana and two dangerous weapons. A statewide search revealed that the Hartford police had a warrant out for his arrest.

At 6 p.m., police booked him on an additional charge of failure to respond, which is an infraction. Police held him on a $150 bond for that charge and $5,000 for the operation while under the influence charge.
