Teen ID'd in Fatal I-84 Crash in West Hartford

The teen's passing comes just before his 20th birthday.

West Hartford Police have identified a Windsor man as the victim of a fatal crash that shutdown Interstate 84 in West Hartford, Monday, NBC Connecticut reports.

According to NBC, 19-year-old Stephen Elliott, of Windsor's Amanda Circle, died after after losing control of his Honda Civic, hitting a cement barrier, and rolling over multiple times. Elliot was ejected from the vehicle, and was transported to Hartford Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, NBC reports.

The crash, which was reported around 3:30 p.m., occurred between exits 39A and 43, and involved multiple vehicles.

State Police, paramedics and numerous West Hartford Fire units responded to the scene.

According to NBC, a portion of both eastbound and westbound sides of I-84 were shut down and were not reopened until shortly after 7 p.m.

Courant.com reports Elliot would have turned 20-years-old on Thursday.
