Three Veteran WHPD Officers Receive New Badges
Ceremony honors new assistant Chief LaSata and Captains Dubiel and Coppinger.
Three veteran officers were officially promoted to command positions Monday and received their new badges in a ceremony before family, friends, colleagues and towns officials.

The officers represented a combined 64 years of experience on the West Hartford force.
Joseph LaSata, 46, formerly captain of detectives and an original member of the community interaction team that formed in the late 1990s, was made assistant chief.

David Dubiel, 44, previously lieutenant in charge of community relations and youth services, moved up to captain of support services, including the traffic and training divisions.
Daniel Coppinger, 44, a lieutenant in the special investigations division, was named captain of patrol, the largest division. He also served in the Connecticut Air National Guard.
