Two Teens Charged in Alleged Street Robbery Involving a Gun

Police say a couple was accosted near Sterling Field Monday night.

Two teenagers accused of a holdup on Flatbush Avenue Monday night were in jail and the bail for a suspect who allegedly produced a gun was raised to $250,000 Tuesday in Hartford Superior Court.

said Christopher Bogle, 18, of 55 James St. in Hartford and a 16-year-old male robbed a young couple who were out for a walk about 9:30 p.m. near Sterling Field.

Bogle and the juvenile were charged with first-degree robbery, unlawful restraint and sixth-degree larceny, police said.

Bogle was initially held on a $50,000 bond. Bail was set at $250,000 at his arraignment in Superior Court, where he has multiple charges pending in connection with a stolen car in Hartford.

The minor was taken to a juvenile detention center in Hartford, police said.

The male and female victims, reportedly ages 24 and 20, gave up a cellphone, car keys and eyeglasses after Bogle allegedly produced a small black gun and the other suspect apparently held a knife, police said. No one was injured.

The victims’ property was recovered on Flatbush Avenue, police said. Police also recovered a screwdriver in some bushes after arresting the teenagers based on descriptions. They were walking along South Quaker Lane near the I-84 overpass and St. Charles Street.

The suspects, who allegedly came up from behind on the couple, were later identified by the victims through photos, police said.

A search that covered a half-mile area and included a police dog failed to find a gun or a knife, police said.
