West Hartford Man Accused of Attempted Murder

Willie Hardy charged in 2008 shooting linked to outbreak of gang activity.

A West Hartford man was arrested Tuesday night in connection with a gang-related shooting in 2008, according to a Hartford Courant report

Willie Hardy, 31, of Cambridge St., West Hartford, is accused of accidentally shooting a 17-year-old girl while attempting to avenge the death of a man shot Aug. 8, 2008, earlier in the day in Hartford.

The case is part of an ongoing investigation, the report says, into alleged gang activity involving the West Hell gang and the Money Green Bedroc gang that occurred five years ago.

Hardy was charged with two counts of criminal attempt to commit murder, one count of first-degree assault and one count of accessory to first-degree assault. His case was continued until Sept. 23.
