West Hartford Police Announce 3 Promotions and a Retirement

A brief ceremony will be held at Town Hall on Friday morning.

The West Hartford Police Department will host a promotion/retirement ceremony for four officers at Town Hall on Friday.

Chief of Police Tracey Gove announced in a press release the following three promotions:

  • Lt. Frank Fallon will be promoted to the rank of captain and will be assigned as the patrol division commander.
  • Sgt. Christopher Chappell will be promoted to lieutenant and will be assigned to the patrol division.
  • Officer Christopher Day will be promoted to sergeant and will also be assigned to the patrol division.

According to a press release, they will receive their new badges in a ceremony at 8:15 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 11, at Town Hall in the Town Council Chambers.

Officer Jose Riviera, who announced his retirement effective Nov. 30, will also be recognized at the ceremony. Rivera joined the department on Nov. 28, 1993, according to a press release.

In his 20 years with the department, Rivera served in the patrol, traffic, and detective divisions; he also served the past four years in community relations as the student resource officer for Hall High School, according to the release. He was also a field training officer and crisis negotiator for the department.

“Officer Rivera has received several Unit Citations, letters of commendation from the community and was the Exchange Clubs Police Officer of the Year in 2012,” the release states.
