West Hartford Police Charge 17-Year-Old With Sexual Assault of Minor

have charged a 17-year-old resident with sexual assault in connection with an incident which occurred in the fall of 2011.

The accused was arrested Tuesday morning, and has been charged with eight counts of first-degree sexual assault and eight counts of risk of injury to a minor, police said.

Police say the alleged victim was a 7-year-old girl, and was a family member. The name of the accused cannot be released because he is a minor.

This case originated from a report made to the Department of Children and Families, and the arrest was made following an investigation by West Hartford Police.

According to police, the accused turned himself in at the West Hartford Police Department Tuesday morning, and is being held on $350,000 bond.

Although the accused is a juvenile, because of the nature of the charges this case will be presented at Hartford Superior Court, GA 14.
