The West Hartford Police issued a press release warning that over the past several months there have been increased residential and motor vehicle burglaries in the neighborhoods of Wallbridge Road west to Ardmore Road and Fern Street north to Asylum Avenue.
- lock your homes and vehicles at all times;
- take your valuables out of vehicles and do not leave other valuables in plain sight while unattended;
- keep an eye on your neighbors’ homes and vehicles when they are not around.
In the event of an emergency or if something or someone out of the ordinary in a neighborhood, residents are urged to call 860-523-5203 or 911.
In addition, residents with questions or concerns about basic crime prevention may contact the Community Relations division at 860-523-2013.
Additionally, to better communicate with the public, West Hartford police are asking that residents visit the town web site at www.Westhartford.org under “quick links” in the left-hand column, and go to “Community Advisory Notification System.”
Once on the page, residents may follow the prompts and sign up to receive information from the town through a variety of sources, according to the release.
Chief Tracey Gove, according to the release, said that "the police department understands the seriousness of these types of cases and that all appropriate investigative and police services are being employed to deal with this issue."
Since July 4, 2013, the West Hartford Police have made 13 arrests for residential and motor vehicle burglaries, six of which were made in September alone, the release states.
