West Hartford Police Investigate String of Car Break-Ins

Cars were broken into in the northwest section of town between Aug. 11 and 12.

West Hartford police are investigating a rash of car break ins that took place in the northwest section of town during the overnight hours between Aug. 11 and 12.

All 16 to 18 vehicles that were broken into - on Lovelace, Richmond, Fairfield, Longlane, Forest Hills, Jensen, Plainfield, Lostbrook, Barksdale, Juniper, and Hyde Roads - were left unlocked by the owners, according to police.

The majority of cases involved change being taken from the cars, although one person reported a stolen GPS unit, police said in an Unusual Incident Report.

Police have reminded residents to lock their vehicles and take valuables out of their cars when left unattended.

In addition, residents are requested to contact police if they see anything suspicious in their neighborhoods.
