[Update] West Hartford Police Determine Gun at Agudas Achim was a Toy

SWAT team has now left the scene and North Main Street has been re-opened.

are now confirming that the gun brought into the Congregation Agudas Achim property at 1244 North Main Street was actually a toy.

Police Chief James Strillacci said that a motorist observed a man entering the building holding what appeared to be hunting rifle. The SWAT team responded, the building was evacuated, and police confirmed that the rifle was a toy.

The temple was holding a tag sale at the time.

Strillacci said, "Better to be safe than sorry."

The SWAT team has now left the scene and South Main Street has been re-opened.

According to breaking news just released by the Hartford Courant, police are investigating reports of a gunman entering on North Main Street in West Hartford.

The Courant is reporting that a SWAT team has surrounded the temple with guns drawn in response to a report of a man entering the building with a toolbox and what looks like a rifle.

According to an updated report, the temple is hosting its annual tag sale today. Police are investigating the possibility that someone brought a toy gun into the building in conjunction with the tage sale..

North Main Street has been closed in both directions between Route 185 and Tumblebrook Lane.
