West Hartford Police Make Arrest In Drug Dealing Investigation

Police seized cocaine, prescription narcotics, nearly $10,000 in cash and four children from the home.

After a months-long investigation into suspected drug dealing, West Hartford Police seized 8.6 ounces of crack cocaine, nearly $10,000 in cash and four young children from a Prospect Avenue home Thursday.

According to a release, police had been investigating a narcotics operation they believed was being run out of a third-floor apartment at 385 Prospect Ave. The CIT and SID divisions of the department had conducted surveillance on the home and arrested suspects who reported that the home was their source for drugs.

Police executed a search and seizure warrant Thursday and arrested Luz Maria Rodriguez, 31. She was charged with three counts of possession of narcotics, three counts of possession with intent to sell, sale of .5 ounces of cocaine, three counts of sale of narcotics, sale of narcotics within 1500 feet of a school, illegal possession within 1500 feet of a school, four counts of risk of injury to a minor and possession of drug paraphernalia.

In addition, police called the Department of Children and Family Services to take possession of four children under 10 years old who lived in the home.
