Two detectives working overnight spotted the teens, who were carrying backpacks, acting suspiciously on Ardmore Road. Police have had extra patrols in the area following a rash of car burglaries which included 38 incidents last week.

According to Lt. Jeff Rose of the West Hartford Police Department, "The detectives tried to stop them but the suspects ran to Dover Road and then to Auburn where they were caught." One of the suspects had to be tasered, Rose said.

The teens were apprehended at approximately 1:45 a.m. on Auburn Road.

Both were carrying backpacks, one of which was recovered at the scene and contained items which appear to have been stolen from cars, police said. The other backpack was later found in the bushes by an Ardmore Road resident.

The suspects are still being processed by West Hartford Police. Names and charges will be forthcoming.
