West Hartford Police: Shooting Related to Drug Deal; Second Arrest Made

Davon Gill, 31, of Oakwood Avenue faces several charges.

The following is a press release from the West Hartford Police Department:

The West Hartford Police Department continued its investigation into a shots fired incident at 30 - 32 Oakwood Ave. that occurred on Oct. 30.

During the initial incident, James Walker, 38, was arrested on numerous charges. During the course of this investigation, the West Hartford Police Department developed information that the shooting was related to a drug deal turned robbery at that address.  

Based on this information, the West Hartford Police Department notified the Connecticut Department of Correction, Parole & Community Services after it was learned that a suspect in this case, Davon Gill, 31, who lives at 32 Oakwood Ave, was on special parole at the time.

Investigators from the Connecticut Department of Correction, Parole & Community Services asked the West Hartford Police Department to accompany them to Gill’s home on Nov. 5. There, Gill was taken into custody for parole violations.

As Parole officers took Gill into custody, they located illegal narcotics in Gill’s possession. The illegal narcotics were turned over to WHPD, who made a separate arrest for the following charges:

  • Possession of less than .5 oz. of Marijuana - 21a-279a,

  • Illegal Possession – 21a-279(A),

  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – 21a-267(a),

  • Illegal Manufacture, Distribution, Sale, Prescription or Dispensing – 21a-277(A)

  • Sale/Possession within 1500’ of Prohibited Place – 21a-278(a)(b).

  • Gill was processed on these charges and turned over to Parole Officers who remanded him into custody.  

    This incident remains under investigation.
