Police have recently seen occurrences of car break-ins in one particular area in West Hartford, and are urging residents and visitors to keep their car doors locked at all times.

"Don't leave your personal items — cell phones, pocketbooks, laptops — sitting on the front seat of the car with the doors unlocked," said West Hartford Police Lt. Ted. J. Stoneburner. "It's tempts a crime of opportunity."

Stoneburner said the police department sent out a message via phone, letting people know to lock car doors, especially near the following streets:

  • 830 Farmington Ave.
  • Auburn Road
  • Park Road
  • Trout Brook Drive
  • Maplewood Avenue
  • Park Road
  • Warrenton Avenue
  • Bretton Road
  • Arnold Way
  • Robin Road

The last time this happened they caught the guys. While this is good advice, it's a bit like saying "and ladies, let's keep those skirts below the knees sow no one gets any ideas". Let's catch them so kids can sleep at night.
