West Hartford Police Urge People Not to Drive While Intoxicated

The following is a press release:

Chief Tracey Gove wants to make drivers aware that the West Hartford Police Department will be aggressively enforcing DWI laws to keep our streets safe. In addition to aggressive enforcement the department will be deploying officers that are specially trained in DUI detection on extra patrols. So far this year, 184 drivers have been arrested for DUI in West Hartford.

We are encouraging everyone to drive carefully and have a safe and happy holiday season. Please use a designated driver or take a cab if you have been drinking.

We want West Hartford residents and those who visit our town to enjoy time with family and friends without tragedy on our streets and highways.

It only takes a second for a drunk driver to cause a crash that results in serious injury or death. The results of a drunk driver’s action will last a lifetime.

Please do not drink and drive. Not during the holidays…not ever.
